Driving Experience

The All-New Focus is built to improve your driving experience in every way.

This next generation car is packed with advanced features like Ford Co-Pilot360, an impressive set of Driver Assist Technologies including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and Lane Centring, and Active Park Assist 2. Together, these smart technologies can help manage acceleration, braking, and even steering.

It’s technology that’s so effortless and useful, you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.

Your personal driving assistant

Ford Co-Pilot360 combines a range of technologies that, together, work to make your driving experience more comfortable and more enjoyable than ever. For example, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go automatically adjusts your cruise control speed based on the vehicle ahead. If traffic slows to a standstill, the engine will automatically stop and restart when the road clears. The system can even recognise speed signs and adjust your cruise control speed accordingly. Lane Centring technology can also provide steering assistance by following road markings to help keep you positioned in the middle of your lane.

Stress-free parking and pulling out

The latest generation of Active Park Assist 2 not only steers you into parking spots, but controls the acceleration, gear shifting and braking as well. Available in Focus models with an automatic transmission, this smart technology makes parking effortless. After activation, you simply select a side of the road and whether you want to parallel or perpendicular park. Then you push and hold the button and let your car do all the work for you.

Headlights that help you see around bends

Adaptive Lighting with Ford Dynamic LED headlights and daytime running lights deliver a precise and intensely bright light pattern that automatically adjusts to suit different road and driving conditions. In addition, the glare-free high beam adjusts itself automatically to avoid dazzling other drivers, and the new system can even read the curve of the road to illuminate corners and crossings before you enter them.

Driving dynamics tailored to you

Personalise your driving experience by altering the Focus’ throttle response, steering, and even gear-change behaviour to match your driving style. There are up to seven different modes including Normal, ECO, Sport, Comfort, Eco-Comfort, Slippery and Trail.

Smart, convenient and space-saving

The electric parking brake is a simple addition that has some surprising advantages. For instance, it gives you more room in the cabin, it’s easier to apply, and you won’t have to get the brakes serviced as regularly. And to apply the brake, all you have to do is press a button in the centre console.

Important information at a glance

The Head-up display projects your vehicle’s dashboard information into your field of vision, so you can stay informed without having to glance down to the dashboard. The information shown on the colour display can also be fully customised to suit your preferences.

Sees the road signs you might miss

Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. Icons for speed limits and no-overtaking signs are displayed on the instrument cluster, alerting you to changing restrictions.

Technology that sees what you can’t see

The Blind Spot Information System uses RADAR sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. They’re situated on either side of your Focus and alert you with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror.

Spots the vehicles you might miss

Cross Traffic Alert is part of the Blind Spot Information System. When you’re reversing out of a space and have limited visibility of the traffic situation, Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror too (left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic).

Technology that can prevent multiple collisions

Post collision braking helps reduce the likelihood of a secondary collision in the event of an accident. If the system detects an accident, it automatically applies the emergency brakes. This helps to prevent the car rolling towards oncoming traffic or other obstacles in the road.

Extra control during hill starts

Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.

Maximum cornering control

Torque Vectoring Control reacts to the road surface 100 times per second. (That’s 33 times faster than the blink of an eye.) Using this information, it balances the amount of power delivered to each of the two front wheels. This maximises grip and sharpens handling around corners and over undulations in the road.

5-Star Euro NCAP safety

The All-New Focus is packed with advanced safety technology. Some systems are designed to help reduce the severity of collisions, while others can help prevent them altogether. And as proof of its ability to protect you, your passengers and other road users, the All-New Focus has been awarded a maximum 5-star rating by Euro NCAP under their new stringent 2018 test and assessment protocols.

Technology that helps you see around corners

Split-View Camera technology helps you to see traffic that’s coming from the rear sides. It works by showing you a near 180-degree image of the area behind your vehicle. This helps you to spot obstacles that can’t be seen over your shoulder, or in the mirrors when you’re reversing.

Technology that tells you when you’re getting tired

Driver Alert constantly monitors your driving behaviour and is designed to detect any changes that could be caused by fatigue. If the system identifies you’re becoming less vigilant, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break. If your driving alertness further declines, the message is repeated and combined with a chime.

Beat the traffic

Live Traffic delivers up-to-date traffic information directly to your SYNC 3 navigation system every 30 seconds. The technology then adjusts your recommended route based on the traffic conditions, helping you to arrive more relaxed and on time.
